5 Tips to Make Your Business PR Great

Last Friday was my month-a-versary with Strategic Ink Public Relations! Beginning my first PR internship, I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but meeting owner Ms. Tina Lange and learning from account executive Ms. Sarah Hansen, I’ve absorbed a ton of information already.

Coming in, I knew very little compared to what I know now about the strength and complexity of public relations. Strategic Ink’s goal is to ensure our clients’ brands get more exposure using a mix of traditional PR, digital PR and social media tactics. This goal is achieved by a team of diverse-thinking individuals here at the firm.

 

To provide some useful insight, here are just a few tips I’ve picked up on how to positively impact your business’ PR.

 

The details in social media posts matter. For an example, use hashtags. They aren’t just fun little words and phrases to throw in your social media posts. Hashtags attract attention from relevant social media users to potential customers as a keyword describing the content of your tweet.

 

Another tip is that timing matters! People are less likely to see your post at midnight than they would be at 11 a.m. or 5 p.m. Be sure to post at strategic times to ensure the right audience is engaging in your content. For instance, a good time might be in the evening or on weekends.

 

Use Regular Blogs to Engage your Audience. I’ve been writing a blog every week, and it’s a great way to share information and advice with current and potential clients/customers in a more personal way. For example, recently, I shared some great tips on writing blogs!

 

Write flawless press releases. A major tip to keep in mind while writing a successful press release is to always have a good headline. You’ll lose a reporter’s  interest if your title isn’t compelling. Next, you need to get right to the point in your intro. Press releases should only be about a page long, so keep it short and sweet. Don’t forget to include quotes and always provide access to more info.

 

Keep up with Digital and Social Trends.To be viewed as a valid and reliable source of information, your business needs to keep up with the latest trends in your industry, as well as the latest changes on social. Keep note of what people are saying by using social media platforms to be aware of what’s popular, and read our weekly blogs which share valuable insight into the ever-changing world of social media! This way, you can produce relevant and interesting content.

 

Create Brand Awareness. Build a great brand experience for customers, this will create loyal customers. Also, remember to mention how your brand is unique, it will leave a great impression on your current and prospective customers.
